AT HOME WITH JULIA STRIDH
Stylist Julia Stridh has finally found home. Together with her family, she’s turned a worn-down 1920s house into a warm, ever-changing space where life, work and creativity all blend together. In between shoots and everyday life, she fills her home with a mix of old treasures, colour, and calm, balanced by timeless pieces from Singular Society that tie everything together.
What does your home mean to you?
A safe space – and for the first time in years, it truly feels like home. Everything happens here – everyday life with our kids, work, rest, and recharging. I also work a lot from home, so it needs to be a place where I feel calm.
Describe the process of creating your home?
We’ve built the house from the ground up; when we first stepped inside three years ago, it was a run-down house. Since then, it has grown into something that feels completely ours. The light that moves through the house makes me feel alive and inspired. Watching the seasons from my kitchen window, napping on the kitchen sofa, or filling the house with friends and family – those are the moments I love most. It’s always changing, which I think is essential – a home should never stand still.

What’s your interior philosophy?
Anything beautiful works together. I like to mix old and new, experiment with colour, and add something nostalgic. I wanted this house to have touches of Italian and French countryside homes – warm and lived-in, but with a modern twist. Don’t be afraid to mix styles and eras, just respect the house’s character. Ours was built in 1925, and I want to highlight that without going full romantic. And always, a little humour – quirky art or an unexpected colour.
What’s your favourite room, and your favourite piece of furniture?
My dream kitchen came to life here, and our kitchen sofa is the best decision we’ve made. Everyone loves to hang out in the kitchen, especially on that sofa. I made sure it was extra long so we could fill it with friends on a Friday over Negronis, but also so I could stretch out and read a book after breakfast on a Saturday. The kids pile in there for cuddles, homework, and weekly planning, or I rest there while my husband does the dishes on an ordinary weekday. You get the idea – a long kitchen sofa is the secret to harmony in a kitchen.
How do you choose products for your home?
Only things I find beautiful – never just practical. When design and function meet, it makes me happy. Like a good-looking coffee machine that works perfectly, a double-door fridge that adds a touch of Italy, or that kitchen sofa – stylish and functional.

Favourite materials?
Our stove section in veneered birch, the blue stone countertop, and the mix of woods. I love combining wood tones – it makes a home feel alive. I also love the marble and Moroccan tile in our bathrooms, and the limestone in the hall. Natural materials bring warmth. And the stainless-steel counters in the kitchen and laundry – I love the contrast.
How do you create the perfect living room?
Keep it calm. Ours is a walkthrough space, so nothing too tall or heavy. A modular sofa with soft lines, meaningful art, and plenty of lighting – especially wall lamps for warmth. The fireplace is the heart of the room, surrounded by candles and soft textiles like cashmere throws and full curtains.
And the bedroom?
Fluffy duvets, crisp sheets and lots of pillows. Powdery walls, soft curtains, a rounded headboard, and antique bedside tables. Minimal decor, warm lighting, and a single flower in a vase. Also: a 210 cm-wide bed – one of our best decisions.

What inspires you – in work, home, and life?
Travel. Seeing new places opens my mind – scents, food, atmosphere, how people live and dress. Even a building facade in another city can spark inspiration. I’m also inspired by my roots – my mother is Italian, my father Austrian. There’s so much beauty and creativity in that heritage. My grandmothers created beauty with very little, and I try to carry that with me in everything I do.
What do you like about Singular Society – and why?
It’s a well-curated selection for people with taste – and for those who don’t want to overthink every choice. Our home is full of colour and antiques, and Singular balances that with calm, high-quality pieces. As for quality – something I’ve become very picky about after years in fashion – it’s hard to explain how good Singular’s products are. You just have to experience them.

Julia Stridh’s favourite Singular picks
Cashmere Sweaters
There’s no greater comfort than filling your wardrobe with cashmere indifferent colours and styles. I’ve tried many and always come back to Singular, both for myself and my husband. The dark brown cable-knit is my latest must-have.
Lightweight Suitcases
There’s something satisfying about travelling with coordinated luggage. Both in colour and style: a check-in suitcase matched with a leather weekend bag is the ultimate travel combo.
Hand Cast Antique Candles
It’s a pure quality of life to always have beautiful candles at home. The coloured ones are perfect for holidays – I’m eyeing the dark brown ones for Christmas.
Skiwear
I’m an avid skier and extremely particular. Last season was my first with Singular’s ski pieces – the base layers fit perfectly, and the shells combine function with style. The white set had the perfect vibe.
Kitchen Tools
I love the look of the kitchenware, but it’s the quality that makes me never want to cook with anything else. I use the knives, cutting boards, the trays for baking and more.
