Wash & Care
The Carbon Steel Frying Pan comes pre-seasoned and ready for use after an initial wash. To enhance its natural nonstick properties, boil water in the pan for a few minutes before the first use. Clean the pan with a sponge and a small amount of detergent, rinse thoroughly, and dry immediately. The pan's nonstick performance improves with each use.
Carbon steel is sensitive to moisture, so avoid leaving the pan in water. Hand wash and rinse in warm water, ensuring thorough drying immediately after washing. The bottom of the pan may develop a patina and slight color variations over time, which is normal.
Do not wash in the dishwasher.
To maintain the pan's performance, heat it gradually to your desired temperature. After use, allow the pan to cool before cleaning. Avoid cooking acidic foods directly in the pan as it may affect the patina layer. Never pour cold water into a hot pan or use the boost function on induction cooktops, as rapid temperature changes can cause uneven heating.
Regular maintenance includes lubricating the pan with a thin layer of canola or flaxseed oil, heating it gradually until steaming hot, allowing it to cool, and then drying with kitchen paper. This process can be repeated to restore the natural nonstick function if washed away. Scratches and color changes do not impact the frying pan's performance.
Remember, the handles may become hot during cooking, so always use pot holders when handling the pan on a hob or removing it from the oven.
