COCKTAIL COUTURE

Singular’s top five summer drinks with the perfect glassware pairings.

Cucumber Cobbler

Served in Crystal Tumbler Glass

This glass is a perfect size for this refreshing cocktail when using crushed ice. Make sure to fill the glass with a lot of ice so you don’t dilute the cocktail.

How to make the cocktail:

  • 40 ml bianco vermouth
  • 20 ml lime juice
  • 20 ml simple syrup (equal parts sugar + water)
  • 10 ml cucumber juice / 1-2 cucumber slices

Pour all ingredients into a shaker, fill up with plenty of ice. Shake hard. Strain the drink over the glass. Make sure to double strain with a fine strainer if you shook with cucumber slices. Top the drink with lots of crushed ice and garnish with a cucumber slice. The cucumber can easily be replaced with fruit/berries.

Rhubarb Collins

Served in Recycled Water Glass 12cm

Collins cocktails are always topped with something sparkling and are most of the time served in a highball glass. This colored glass together with the pink drink is a beautiful match.

How to make the cocktail:

  • 40 ml unaged aquavit
  • 20 ml acid-adjusted apple juice (Sandbergs is great and a perfect Swedish alternative instead of lemon/lime)
  • 20 ml flavored simple syrup with rhubarb
  • Top with dry apple cider (approx. 30 ml)

Add all ingredients into a shaker except the cider. Shake hard, pour the cider into the shaker. Then strain the entire drink into a glass. Top with fresh ice. Garnish with a nice rhubarb slice.

Milano Torino Shakerato

Served in Crystal White Wine Glass

Wine glasses for cocktails are often used for different spritzers. But can also be used with a fresh, low ABV cocktail with berries and lots of ice.

How to make the cocktail:

  • 20 ml Campari / Italian bitter
  • 30 ml rosé vermouth
  • 25 ml lime juice
  • 20 ml simple syrup
  • 2 strawberries (alternatively make a strawberry simple syrup)

Add all ingredients into a shaker. Crush the strawberries at the bottom of the shaker if you are using fresh strawberries to release their flavor. Double strain the drink and pour into a nice glass. Top with fresh ice. Garnish with a strawberry.

Red Currant & Sorrel

Served in Crystal Red Wine Glass

Burgundy glasses can be used for so much more than wine. Adding an ice cube in it makes this drink still look very elegant. And the red currant gives this drink a “light red wine” feeling.

How to make the cocktail:

  • 20 ml gin
  • 30 ml manzanilla sherry / fino sherry
  • 30 ml red currant juice (blue, red, or a blend of both is delightful)
  • 30 ml acid-adjusted apple juice (Sandbergs is great and a perfect Swedish alternative instead of lemon/lime)
  • Sorrel
  • Soda water top

If you have time, infuse the spirit with sorrel. Otherwise, it is fine to just use it as a nice garnish. Add all ingredients into a shaker except soda. Shake and strain into a glass. Top with a bit of soda (about 20-30 ml) to lighten it up. Garnish with a sorrel leaf.

French 75

Served in Crystal Champagne Glass

A champagne glass is the traditional way of serving sparkling wine cocktails. And also very pretty. This is a classic cocktail with champagne that dates back to 1915.

How to make the cocktail:

  • 30 ml gin
  • 20 ml lemon juice
  • 20 ml simple syrup
  • Top with dry sparkling wine

Add all ingredients except the sparkling wine into a shaker. Shake. Start by pouring about 30 ml of sparkling wine into the glass. Strain the drink over the sparkling wine in the glass. Garnish with a cherry.
