  • 100% baby alpaca wool
  • Hypoallergenic, soft, light and breathable
  • Dirt-repellent and low pilling
  • Artisan made in Peru

This out of this world blanket is made from 100% Baby Alpaca Wool. Alpacas are members of the South American camelids family and are closely related to llamas, guanacos and vicuñas. They live in extreme conditions in the Andes which gives a piece created with this unique fibre special characteristics: it’s incredibly soft to the touch, light, breathable and warm. It is also hypoallergenic since, unlike lambswool, alpaca wool does not contain lanolin.

Our Baby Alpaca Blanket is a great piece to carry with you during your travels. It can be your sofa companion or even keep you warm in bed. It is dirt-repellent and low pilling with 7 cm fringes on short sides. This blanket shows the richness of the raw material worked by the hands of experienced artisans in Peru. It is made available through our collaboration with Animaná, a company that’s reviving the ancestral knitting techniques in South America, generating value using the local natural fibres and connecting the artisans with the markets.

Animaná
Animaná was founded in 2009 by entrepreneur Adriana Marina from Santa Cruz, Argentina. A sustainable project that makes garments of natural fibers from Patagonia and the Andes in order to preserve local communities, care for the environment and generate local wealth. Animaná is training artisans and producers, prioritizing sustainable production processes, and in turn generating an ethical, sustainable and transparent value chain. Currently, animaná collaborates with more than 7,500 artisans from different communities in the Andes, who produce all kinds of garments: sweaters, cardigans, ponchos, ruanas, shirts, blankets, shawls, scarves, dresses, pants and more products. The role of women is central to Animaná's sustainable business model, as 85 % of the weavers are women.
